Mithila region is bounded in the North by the Himalayas and in the South by Ganges. West by Gandaki river and east by Mahanadi river. Mithila falls under the northern part of India, more specifically in the state of Bihar. Madhubani, Darbhanga, Sitamadhi , Purnia and Saharsa are the major parts of Mithila region.
Any place is identified by its thousand years old history and the well estabilished culture which has been following by its people from years. There is a local poverb, which is very famous among the localites.’Chail , Prakriti , vemai teeno sange jai’. It means where ever the people of Mithila go, their habits, behaviour amd nature go with them. It means people are roaming the world with their roots. It also depicts the culture or way of life follow by the people of Mithila who have migrated to the other parts of the world. In this blog I will give light on the Mithila region. I talk about the local food, local language, local festivals, films and music , paintings and its place in the world.
